SOCCER REFEREES NOT AVAILABLE THIS WEEKEND Club members may be aware from media reports this week that in response to actions taken by the CEO & Board of Central Soccer, the local administrator Dave Lawrie has tendered his resignation and the majority of local referees have withdrawn their services for games this weekend. Rest assured that your Club Committee is very concerned about recent events and will be working to ensure a suitable resolution is achieved. Without getting into the issues themselves, this is also yet another very disappointing way in which the local game is being publicised in the media. It is very likely that all games below & possibly including Mid Central One this weekend will not have any referees this weekend. As such it is requested that all affected Club members exercise discretion and patience in the handling of this situation and that all Team Managers & Captains provide leadership that will reflect well on our Club and the game. It is suggested that in the absence of a referee, the two team managers meet before the game and seek to agree on a suitable person to control the game or each team appoint someone for each half. The spirit in which our pre-season tournament games were played without referees earlier this year was excellent and we would trust that this same spirit will now again prevail. | ||||||||
