Stewarts Powerbase Red Sox Manawatu is again proud to host FATHERS DAY 'SOCCER BLOOD MATCH' being promotional games of soccer to help raise awareness for the NZ Blood Donation Service. Teams will be made up of pairs/groups of players who will be players related by blood ! e.g. Fathers, Sons, Brothers, Daughters, Mothers, Grandads etc |

This time of the year can be a difficult time for the NZ Blood Service as a large number of regular donors are unable to be used if they have the cold or flu. CAN YOU HELP ? |
There will be a curtain raiser game for junior players followed by the main game for senior players. All local players from Junior and Senior Clubs are welcome to participate. BBQ Food will be on Sale NZ Blood Service personnel will have a stall and will be available to answer any queries and accept 'sign-ups' |

| NZ BLOOD SERVICE INFORMATION: |
|
Known as the NZ Blood Service Located at Gate 12, Ruahine Street, Palmerston North Hospital. Phone : 06 350 8563 or 0800 448 354 (this will get you through to this branch). The National 0800 number on the flyers is the national call centre and they will put calls through. The Blood Centre is open: Mondays 11 am to 6.30 pm Thursdays 8 am to 2 pm Fridays 7.15 am to 3 pm 1st Wednesday of each month open 8 am to 8 pm. We are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as we are doing mobile collections around the region each week.
Nationally we need 600 people giving blood on a daily basis to keep up with the demand for blood and blood products. Locally we require 200 people every week to meet our hospitals needs. Blood only lasts 35 days, this is why we always need more people to become Blood Donors and donate regularly 3 to 4 times a year. Each time you donate blood, you can save 3 people.
Blood and blood products are used for: - Traumas and Accidents - Burns - Babies - Cancer Patients - Major Surgery
What better way to support your community by becoming a Blood Donor and saving lives !!.
Requirements to becoming a Blood Donor Age: 16 to 60 for 1st time donors, up to 71 years of age for exsiting regular donors Weigh: 50kgs or more Health: be in good health Travel: cannot have lived in or visited the UK, France or Ireland between 1980 and 1996 for 6 months or more ID: need to have some form of id when coming to donate, drivers license, passport or donor card.
