CHARITY SOCCER - 'BLOOD MATCH'

FATHER vs SON     BROTHER vs BROTHER

FATHERS DAY - SUNDAY 2 SEPTEMBER 2007

MEMORIAL PARK from 12 noon

Stewarts Powerbase Red Sox Manawatu is proud to host its inaugural FATHERS DAY 'CHARITY SOCCER MATCH' being a promotional game to raise funds and awareness for a Charity. The 2007 Charity is the NZ Blood Donation Service and the Match Theme is a 'BLOOD MATCH' whereby teams will be made up of pairs/groups of players who will be players related by blood ! e.g. Fathers, Sons, Brothers, Daughters etc

Help us to help increase the blood donor pool and raise awareness and funds for the
NZ Blood Service

This time of the year can be a difficult time for the NZ Blood Service as a large number of regular donors are unable to be used if they have the cold or flu.
CAN YOU HELP

There will be a curtain raiser game for junior players followed by the main game for senior players.
All local players from Junior and Senior Clubs are welcome to participate.
The Entry Fee to the MATCHES will be a GOLD COIN DONATION. BBQ Food will be on Sale

Located at Gate 12, Ruahine Street, Palmerston North Hospital.
Phone : 06 350 8563 or 0800 448 354 (this will get you through to this branch).
The National 0800 number on the flyers is the national call centre and they will put calls through.
The Blood Centre is open:
Mondays 11 am to 6.30 pm
Thursdays 8 am to 2 pm
Fridays 7.15 am to 3 pm
1st Wednesday of each month open 8 am to 8 pm.
We are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as we are doing mobile collections around the region each week.

Nationally we need 600 people giving blood on a daily basis to keep up with the demand for blood and blood products.
Locally we require 200 people every week to meet our hospitals needs.  Blood only lasts 35 days, this is why we always need more people to become Blood Donors and donate regularly 3 to 4 times a year.
Each time you donate blood, you can save 3 people.

Blood and blood products are used for:
- Traumas and Accidents
- Burns
- Babies
- Cancer Patients
- Major Surgery

What better way to support your community by becoming a Blood Donor and saving lives !!.

Requirements to becoming a Blood Donor
