Saturday 14 July Memorial Park - Stewarts Powerbase Youth 1 vs Stewart Powerbase Thrashers 2
Following on from the Fort Knox Thirsties last week, Stewarts Powerbase Thrashers gave the Youth team a lesson in fighting your way back into a game, winning 2-1 after Youth again went to an early 1-0 lead. Whereas Youth started very stongly and probably had the better of the 1st half, Thrashers recomposed themselves in the 2nd half and played the better football. Some poor marking and failing to commit to tackles from Youth combined with the dogged perseverance from Thrashers saw them rewarded with 2 fine goals - 1 to Joseph Araya and the other to Thrashers stalwart Kerry Rickard who played a valuable holding attacking role. Others to stand out for Thrashers were youngsters Nick Townsend-Daw and Nathan Mcleod, the Chileans and Player of the Day - Graeme McCrae. Player of the Day for Youth was newcomer Cameron McAlister.
