CHALLENGE TROPHY

The Challenge trophy was introduced in the 2006 season for league games in Manawatu Div 1 between the then 4 Red Sox Manawatu teams in that league, being the:
1929's, Wrinklies, Thirsties, Thrashers.
Initial holders were the Wrinklies due to their finishing highest in the 2005 league table.
With the combination in 2007 of the Mid Central Division 2 and Manawatu Div 1 Leagues, the RSM Youth team joined the challenge and the Thirsties were relegated to Manawatu Div2
Unfortunately the trophy suffered horrific trauma as clumsy Nigel dropped and broke the one in the photo when presenting to the Wrinklies in the 1st week of the 2007 season. It has since been fixed.
In the 2009 season, the Thrashers renamed themselves as Latinos United.
In the 2010 Season the Manawatu Divsion 1 was renumbered to Man Div 2 as the Mid Central League Div 1 was renamed as Manawatu Div 1. Also in 2010 the Thirsties returned to the league after a 2 year 'visit' to the next lower divsion
Rules of the Challenge provide for the losing team to deliver - 6 jugs of beer to the winners!
